Rat Verses Rabbit was formed in 2007, and is an independant band that has a combination of covers and original songs. The band gets its name from the Chinese horoscopes of the band members. It has been featured in FAULT magazine recently and this gained the band some interest localy as well as internationaly. Their first EP was released early in 2011 called Ferris Wheel. Rat Verses Rabbit has been a unearthed band with the radio station Triple J since 2010. The band has performed recently at venues such as Oddfellows, the Apollo Bay Music Festival, The Colac East Hotel, and the Apollo Bay Agricultural Show.
Both members of Rat Verses Rabbit are completing Diplomas of Music and Certificate IIIs in Contemporary Music Performance at MWT Institute. Their studies in music result in an exciting collection of covers and original songs in their performances. They are an independant, electronic punk and pop band which is fast gaining interest especially across the South West of Victoria. They are looking at getting some more recording done this year and aiming at getting music videos out soon. RAT VERSES RABBIT has been nominated for the Catapult Prize 2011 and has been getting some exciting feedback especially about the single Ferris Wheel. They have an interesting collection of originals such as Ferris Wheel, John and Yoko's Band, Empty House and Maybe He's My Baby.
Rat Verses Rabbit is influenced by bands such as the Dresden Dolls, The Knife, Angus and Julia Stone, Siouxie and the Banchees, Pink Floyd, Green Day, The Divinyls and Blondie.
